King’s Discount Home Center isn't just a store; it’s a family legacy born right here in Marshall County.
It Started with Billy In 1998, veteran builder Billy King founded "King's Cash and Carry." Billy knew the construction industry inside and out, and he hated seeing folks overpay for materials. He started the business by selling bulk purchases and surplus materials he’d saved from jobsites, passing those savings on to his neighbors.
Growing Up in the Lumber Yard: Billy’s grandsons, Blake and Brennen, grew up in the business. While they were throwing aways trash, stacking boards, and chasing each other with 2x4s they were quietly learning the trade, and the importance of honest trading- from their grandfather.
Weathering the Storm When a tornado ripped through Albertville, it destroyed the original store and left the future uncertain. Rebuilding is never easy, and the business faced a long road back. But the foundation Billy built was strong.
The Next Generation In 2023, Blake and Brennen stepped up to take the reins. They saw an opportunity to honor their grandfather’s legacy while adapting to the modern world.
King's Discount Today We operate with a simple model that saves you money in two ways:
- Direct-from-Mill: We buy A-Grade materials directly from manufacturers, cutting out the middleman.
- Surplus Hunts: We scour the market for manufacturer overruns and scratch-and-dent deals to offer prices the big box stores can't touch.
We’ve updated the technology, adding real-time online inventory and faster checkout - but we haven't changed the heart of the business. We are still family-owned, locally minded, and committed to helping you get the job done right.
